Returns for Leukemia 2010 Results

Notice to all members, UFCW Local 12R24

On behalf of your Local General Executive Board, please accept this correspondence as a very warm and heartfelt thanks to all of you and your families, friends, acquaintances and neighbours that jumped on board to volunteer and assist with the UFCW 12R24/Beer Store annual bottle drive that was held on May 29 and 30, 2010.

There were 2350 documented and charted volunteers and most likely many more that just showed up. The exuberance, excitement and dedication to this effort in support of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Canada are indescribable. There are literally hundreds of feel-good stories that stem from the Bottle Drive. To even attempt to pay proper homage to all the deserving would be impossible.

The UFCW Canada charity of choice has become your labour of love and our unbridled perseverance to reach the very lofty goals of achievement that will undoubtedly one day bring a halt to these dreaded diseases. I am extremely proud to lead an organization and be associated with people that believe in giving back to their communities and society in general and continually become more and more creative about how they approach this initiative.

Be very proud of yourselves and once again, sincerely thank-you from all of us.

I am honoured to announce the staggering results of our collective effort that was unveiled and presented at the annual UFCW Canada Leukemia Gala event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre moments ago — a total of $1,065,412.24 raised to help find a cure for Leukemia.

In Solidarity,

Robert Edwards

President, UFCW Local Union 12R24
